Yakpap
Yakpap, a sweet rice dish peculiar to Kaesong, is well-known across the country. It was also called yaksik.
It is prepared by mixing steamed glutinous rice with honey or taffy, sesame oil, matured soy sauce, chestnut and jujube and steaming it again, and garnishing it with pine nuts before eating.
It was mainly made on First Full Moon Day (15th day of the first month by the lunar calendar), birthdays and other occasions for welcoming VIPs.
