Glutinous corn cake

   Glutinous corn cake is a famous food in Uiju and Pyoktong areas of North Phyongan Province.
   Glutinous corn flour is mixed with powdered white rice, kneaded with hot water, steamed in the pot and pounded on a board.
   It is as sticky and delicious as the glutinous rice cake made in lowland areas.
   As the polished rice was scarce in the regions, the glutinous corn cake was prepared on holidays and in wedding ceremonies.
   At that time, corn cake was rubbed with sesame oil and impressed with a wooden pattern to look attractive.
