14th National Culinary Skill Contest-Pyongyang Municipality
The 14th National Culinary Skill Contest-Pyongyang Municipality took place at Hwasong Restaurant from February 10 to 13, 2026, in the run-up to the significant February holiday.
It was held on the theme of “Putting the culinary skills and service level on a new high stage!” It was attended by ace cooks and waiters and waitresses selected from scores of units in the sectors of public service, external service and public catering service in Pyongyang, the service sectors in ministries and national agencies.
The contest was divided into cooking exhibition, competition of cooks and waiters and waitresses, and competition of housewives.
On display in the cooking exhibition were hundreds of dishes prepared by making an effective use of various materials produced in mountains, fields, rivers and seas of the country.
The dishes presented by Okryu Restaurant, Pyongyang Hotel and Moranbong District Restaurant Management Office were highly appreciated for well preserving the characteristics of their units.
The competition of housewives who fully displayed their culinary skills they had practised in their family life revved up the atmosphere of the contest.
The contest served as a good occasion in raising the technical skills of cooks and waiters and waitresses and improving the people’s diet.
